Handyman & property maintenance · Exeter, Devon · 2025

01 — Context
Hembury Contracting is the one call a Devon homeowner makes when there’s a list on the fridge. A leaky tap, a flatpack wardrobe, a fence panel down, a full bathroom refit — sorted in one visit instead of three different tradespeople who never turn up. No job too small, fair fixed pricing, and a wall of five-star reviews to back it.
The reputation was already there. The discovery wasn’t. The business ran on word-of-mouth and a single rented directory listing, so anyone searching "handyman Exeter" had to already know the name to find it. Plenty of nearby homeowners who’d have loved the service never saw it.
The brief was a site that pulls its weight: ranks for the searches homeowners actually type, loads instantly on a phone, and sounds like the team does on the doorstep instead of like a brochure.

02 — Approach
We built the site around how a homeowner decides who to call. A clear page for each job they might need doing, an honest sense of cost up front, the towns covered across the 30-mile radius, and a phone number and booking button never more than a tap away.
Real work on every page. The actual team, the actual van, real before-and-after jobs instead of stock-library handymen. A trades site that looks fake loses the customer in the first three seconds, so this one earns the trust the reviews already prove.
Plain English the whole way down. No "premium artisan craftsmanship", no five-paragraph intros. What they do, roughly what it costs, and how to get hold of them, structured so search engines understand it and homeowners believe it.

03 — Outcome
Hembury Contracting is now findable by the people who need it. A homeowner searching for the work they want done lands on the page for exactly that job, sees the reviews and the pricing, and books, no name-recognition required.
The site does the selling before the phone rings. Customers arrive already knowing the service, the rates and the area, so the team spends less time qualifying and more time quoting and working.
Fast on the phone in a customer’s hand, clear on what’s on offer, and built to keep earning enquiries from the local searches that turn into paying jobs.
04 — Smart features
Under the hood

01
The whole site is built as a programmatic SEO engine: a dedicated landing page for each of 2,400+ services, across 36 categories, in every town inside the 30-mile radius. That’s tens of thousands of pages generated and maintained from one system — so whatever a homeowner types, there’s a page that matches it exactly.

02
Each of those pages is a real, useful landing page — “Plumbing in Exmouth”, not a thin doorway — with local copy, schema markup and a booking route, tuned for the long-tail “service + town” searches homeowners actually run. It’s why a dormant old site turned into enquiries flooding in within days of launch.
