The OpsCon. The home base their community actually shows up to.

01 — Context

The brief

The OpsCon helps veterans and blue-light service leavers build a life after the uniform. Academy training run by former Tier 1 operators, a vetted jobs board, a store of operator kit, and a global network of members and industry partners who look out for each other. The whole thing rests on one promise: clarity and direction for people figuring out what comes next.

A community like that needs a home it trusts — somewhere members log in, find the next course, land the next role, kit up, and stay connected. The old setup couldn’t carry that weight. Training, jobs, store and membership lived in separate places, and the team spent more time wrangling the back end than serving the people using it.

They came to us for one platform that does the lot: a place members want to come back to, and a place the team can run without fighting it.

02 — Approach

Our approach

We built The OpsCon a single platform around the member journey, not around a list of pages. Discover the academy, book a course, browse vetted roles on the jobs board, kit up in the store, and find your people in the network — one login, one place, every part talking to the next.

The back end is built for the people who run it day to day. Adding a course, posting a role, updating a partner, listing new stock — all done in minutes by the team itself, no developer in the loop. The platform earns its keep by getting out of their way.

On the front end we matched the seriousness of who this serves: clear, grounded, no theatre. Fast on any device a member happens to be on, because someone deciding to take the next step shouldn’t be made to wait for a page to load.

03 — Outcome

The outcome

The OpsCon now runs from one platform its community treats as home base. Members log in to find training, work, kit and each other in the same place — and the team adds to all of it themselves, the moment something changes.

Everything that grows the membership now lives under one roof: the academy fills courses, the jobs board connects members to vetted roles, the store moves operator kit, and the network keeps people coming back between all three. Each part feeds the others instead of pulling in different directions.

It’s a foundation built to scale with the mission — more members, more partners, more courses — without the team outgrowing the tools again. The platform grows with the community, not against it.

04 — Smart features

Under the hood

The clever bits doing the work behind the scenes.

The OpsCon store — The Ops Con x Hotspur Black Edition Operator Decanter product page showing the in-stock badge, standard price and lower member price

01

A custom store, built around membership.

Not an off-the-shelf shop bolted on. We built the storefront on a bespoke back end the team runs themselves, with live stock tracking on every product and variant, and member pricing baked in so members see their saving the moment they land on a product. Branded operator kit, books and collaborations, all moving through one checkout.

02

Training courses that book themselves.

The Academy lists courses from The OpsCon and its trusted training partners, each with its own dates, standard and member pricing, location and full application flow. Members get their rate automatically, and the team adds a new course or intake in minutes without a developer in the loop.

The OpsCon jobs board — member-gated career opportunities with filters by job type, category and experience level

03

A jobs board that protects its listings.

Vetted roles from trusted employers, with employer names and apply access gated behind membership so the board stays trusted on both sides. Filters by type, category and experience level, and a clear path to join and unlock every listing.

The OpsCon partners page — trusted partner organisations including AEC Protection, Barham Protection Services and Invictus Strategic Solutions

04

A partner network, all in one place.

Trusted organisations join through a tiered partnership programme, each with their own profile and a link out to their site. It gives members a vetted network to draw on and gives partners a place in front of the community, managed entirely from the same back end.
