UX (User Experience)
Definition
How easy and pleasant it is to use a website. Good UX means visitors can quickly find what they need and accomplish their goals without frustration.
What is UX?
UX stands for User Experience. It encompasses everything about how a person feels when interacting with your website – is it easy to use? Can they find what they need? Do they leave satisfied or frustrated?
UX vs UI
- UX: The overall experience and ease of use
- UI: The visual design and interactive elements
Good UX requires good UI, but good UI alone doesn't guarantee good UX. A beautiful website that's confusing to navigate has good UI but poor UX.
Why UX Matters
Conversions
Difficult experiences kill conversions. Every frustration point is a potential lost customer.
Bounce Rate
If users can't quickly understand your site, they leave.
SEO
Google measures user behaviour. High bounce rates and short visits signal poor UX and hurt rankings.
Brand Perception
Your website experience shapes how people perceive your business.
Signs of Poor UX
- Can't find what you're looking for
- Confusing navigation
- Slow loading pages
- Forms that are difficult to complete
- Unclear what to do next
- Content that doesn't match expectations
UX Best Practices
Know Your Users
What are they trying to accomplish? Design for their goals.
Simplify Navigation
Clear, logical menu structure with as few clicks as possible.
Clear Hierarchy
Most important content should be most prominent.
Fast Load Times
Speed is a core UX element.
Consistent Patterns
Users shouldn't have to relearn your interface on each page.
Test with Real Users
Watch people use your site. You'll quickly see where they struggle.
