Custom quoting software · Pink Frog Studio product · 2024

01 — Context
TarmacQuote is our own product, built for a problem we kept seeing in the surfacing trade: a contractor who is brilliant on the tools loses hours every week to the paperwork. Pricing a job means working areas and materials by hand on scraps of paper, and a single wrong number is the difference between winning the work and losing the margin.
The old way scatters everything. Quotes live in Word docs that look amateur next to a competitor’s, follow-ups get forgotten, and last month’s numbers are buried somewhere between an email, a notebook and memory. The job a contractor is great at — laying tarmac — is not the job eating their evenings.
We set out to build the tool we wished every surfacing contractor had: smart quoting software that turns hours of calculation into a few minutes, and makes the quote that lands look as professional as the work behind it.

02 — Approach
We built TarmacQuote around the contractor’s actual workflow — calculate, create, send — rather than around a feature list. Enter the job, the software handles the areas, materials and labour maths in the background, and out comes a clean, branded quote ready to go to the customer.
Each client gets their own dedicated deployment rather than a seat on shared software: their branding, their pricing, their data, with no monthly subscription and no vendor lock-in. The intelligence specific to surfacing — the way the sums actually work on a real job — is built into the product, not bolted on.
And it had to be usable where the work happens. The whole thing is built mobile-first so a contractor can price a job standing on the driveway, not back at a desk that evening.

03 — Outcome
TarmacQuote is live and shipping as a Pink Frog Studio product. A contractor builds a professional, accurate quote in a few minutes, follows it up without it slipping through the cracks, and looks the part in front of the customer from the first document they send.
Because every client runs their own deployment, they own their data outright and pay no recurring subscription — the software works for them rather than renting them access to it.
It’s proof of the kind of bespoke software we build: a real tool solving a real trade problem, deployed per-client, fast on the device the work actually happens on.
